An open invitation is extended to all Shorthorn enthusiasts to join the Kansas Shorthorn Lassies (and National Shorthorn Lassies) to assist in the promotion of the Shorthorn Breed, the Kansas Junior program, and the sponsorship of the Shorthorn Lassie Queen program, both in Kansas and Nationally.
All types of members are needed to make an organization successful! You are encouraged to participate in any manner in which you are comfortable - very active, officer, membership with dues only, sponsor, silent support! Whatever fits your needs.
The lassies hold an auction annually
at the Kansas Shorthorn Association annual meeting. Lassie members are
encouraged to provide a
craft or food item to be auctioned or to support the auction in an
appropriate manner. This is the association's
primary fund raiser for the year. The other fund raiser the
lassies support is a meal at the Kansas Shorthorn Field Day. A free-will
donation is requested for the meal and the meal itself is supported primarily
through contributions. Proceeds benefit the Kansas Lassie Queen and her
attendance at the National Queen Contest and other youth related projects.
Annual dues may be sent in at any time. The state submits all membership information and National dues by April 1st of the current year.
Your membership will provide you with an opportunity for fellowship and promotion of Shorthorns and your dues will provide the funds to support the Shorthorn Lassie Queen program, sponsorship of awards for Kansas Junior Shorthorn activities, and Shorthorn promotional activities in Kansas.
